Obituary

Las Vegas, NV Samuel Joseph Gizzie, 68, formerly of Thomaston, passed away on December 30, 2021 at his home from complications of Covid-19. Sam was born January 6, 1953 in Waterbury, son of the late Vito A. and Gertrude E. (Centrella) Gizzie. Raised in Thomaston, Sam attended local schools and Thomaston High School. At a young age, with the approval of his parents he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Intrepid honorably for four years. He will be remembered as a talented machinist and master craftsman, and had worked for his father at Suburban Tool and Manufacturing, Co. In 1985 he moved west, living in Seattle, Los Angeles and finally settling in Las Vegas. Sam is survived by his son, Samuel J. Gizzie of Terryville, one brother, Marc P. Gizzie of Winsted; two sisters, Elizabeth M. Guidone of Wallingford and Katherine A. Fuechsel of New Britain; two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Samuel Thomas Gizzie and many nieces, nephews and Great-nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 3, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Burial in Hillside Cemetery will be private.
