Harker Heights, TX - Susan Ann Gagnon, 59, formerly of Thomaston, CT. A Veteran U.S. Army Gulf War. Deceased Monday, December 9th, 2024, at her residence having sadly chosen to depart this life after a recent decline in health. Susan was born Sept. 9th, 1965, in Fort Kent, Maine. The daughter of the late Raymond E. and Rita M. (Duperry) Gagnon. After the loss of her father, Susan graduated class of '83' from Pomperaug H.S., Southbury, CT. Then with her mother moved to Thomaston. Sue graduated from C.P.I. in computer technology and communications. In 1985 Susan enlisted in the Army, stationed in S. Korea then Germany. Dec. of 1990, she deployed with Co C. 17th Signal Battalion to the Persian Gulf in Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Susan's unit provided critical communications support to U.S. Military and Allies during the final push and liberation of Kuwait City 1991. After 9 years of proud service to her country, SGT. Susan A. Gagnon was honorably discharged at Fort Hood, TX in 1994. With the passing of her mother in 1995 Sue stayed in the Ft. Hood (Cavazos) area. Employed for many years at Hoist, Nolanville, TX in plant operations. Member of V.F.W. Post #3892. Sue enjoyed good times with fellow veterans and friends, playing poker, found outdoors in all-weather cooking Bar-B-Q, wore patriotic hats and tees, first to shoot off Texas size fireworks, visiting family back east, casino trips with her brother and his wife, and eating lobster as much as possible. Susan will be forever missed but never forgotten.
Susan was predeceased by her parents, brothers Charles and Kirby Gagnon, and sister Holly Clarke. She is survived by her brother Dwayne Gagnon and his wife Jacqueline of Terryville, CT, a sister-in-law Cathy Gagnon of NH, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and all her friends in Texas.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, January 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Interment will be with her parents in the spring at Hillside Cemetery Thomaston, CT.
