Theodore W. Gelinas, 86, passed away Friday, August 28, surrounded by his loving family in the hospice unit of Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Minnie (Cockayne) Gelinas and Cora (Allen Bickel) Gelinas.
Theodore was born in Waterbury, CT on December 13, 1928 to the late Welly and Marie Gelinas. He was a proud veteran who served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Ault, and then went on to work for Summit Finishing in Thomaston until his retirement. Theodore was involved with the Boy Scouts, Troop 53 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 59 years.
Theodore is survived by his children, Peter Gelinas, and his wife Kathleen; Deborah, and her husband Warren Siel; Candance, and her husband David Poulin; Robin Gelinas; and Tim Gelinas; his step daughter, Sandra, and her husband Chester Herman; his grandchildren, Geoffrey Gelinas; Robert, George, Amy, and Melinda Siel; Christopher and Matthew Poulin; Theodore Jr., Joseph, and Andrew Gelinas; step grandchildren, Jan Wasson, and Ann (Pittman) Hadaway; great grandchildren, Valerie, Joseph, and Leah Poulin; Lily and Nathan Wasson; Kari and Cody Pittman; his siblings, Armandzo Gelinas, and his wife June; Eva, and her husband Felix Bouthot Jr.; Madeline, and her husband Edward Grayeb; and Claudette, and her husband Raymond Michaud; and many nieces and nephews. Theodore was predeceased by his son, Theodore Gelinas Sr.; and his brother Raphael Gelinas and sisters, Doris Lacombe; and Marie Bouthillier.
Arrangements: A calling hour will be held Saturday, September 5 at Union Congregational Church, 167 Buckingham St., Oakville from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m. Full military honors will be held outside of the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
