Thomaston- Mr. Thomas J. Manuel, 89, died Thursday, July 3, at Cook-Willow Convalescent Home in Plymouth. He was the husband of Franziska (Jenetz) Grohoski Manuel.
Mr. Manuel was born in New Foundland, Canada on August 13, 1924, son of the late Obadiah and Edith M. (Jacobs) Manuel. He had retired from the Drawn Metal Tube Co. after many years of employment. He had served honorably in the United States Army, was a member of the H.S. Liederkranz and was a communicant of St. Thomas Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, James Manuel of Hamden; one step-son, Constantine Grohoski of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; one step daughter, Heidi Matthewson of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; one step-daughter-in-law, Jodi Grohoski of Oakville and six step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Helen Manuel and his step-son Eric Grohoski.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cook-Willow for the loving care they provided to Mr. Manuel.
Arrangements: A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 21, at St. Thomas Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the Lyons Funeral Home of Thomaston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Mr. Manuel's name to the St. Thomas Kitchen Fund, 19 Electric Avenue, Thomaston, Connecticut 06787
