Obituary

Thomas A. Sampieri
Litchfield – Thomas A. Sampieri, 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Sabo) Sampieri for over 41 years.

Thomas was born in Waterbury on June 13, 1956, son of the late Delphio and Sophie (DuBicki) Sampieri. He was raised in Prospect and graduated from Waterbury State Technical College with a degree in electrical engineering.

Tom was deeply passionate about his lifelong career as an emergency lighting design engineer. Over the years, he designed innovative products for companies, including Dual-Lite, High-Lites, Hubbell, Philips Lighting, and Best Lighting, while also dedicating the past 20 years to running his own business, XL Magnetics, in Prospect. His unique expertise, creativity, and commitment to excellence left a lasting mark on the industry.

His hobbies also included gardening, spending time with his three German Shepherds, and 4-wheeling on the beaches in Cape Cod and Rhode Island. He was an avid NHRA and Mopar fan and traveled to attend many races with his brother. Their favorite trips included Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, and New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. In his free time, he rebuilt a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express. Most of all, Tom loved spending time with his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan; his daughters, Brianna Harrington and her husband, Iam, and Danielle Sampieri; his cherished grandchildren, Bennett and Elayna Harrington; his brother, Paul Sampieri and his wife, Marie; his nephew, Daniel Sampieri; as well as extended family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

A celebration of life will be held in June for family and friends.
