Obituary

Plymouth- Mrs. Ursula L. (Crawford) White, 89, died Wednesday, September 3 at the Bristol Hospital. She was the wife of John Evendon White. Mrs. White was born August 18, 1919 in Birmingham, AL daughter of the late Robert Joseph and Emma Johannah (Brand) Crawford. She received her BA degree from Centenary College and her MA degree in Library Science from Louisiana State University. Mrs. White worked as a librarian in the Desoto Parish Library in Louisiana and the Detroit Public Library in Michigan before she married and moved east. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Plymouth and Thomaston school districts. After years of retirement, she returned to work as a librarian in the Plymouth Library Association. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the Nursing staff at Bristol Hospital. She enjoyed tennis, music, gardening, needlework and sewing quilts. She also enjoyed volunteer work, her church group, various clubs and many friends. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church. In addition to her husband of 65 years she is survived by two sons, Robert I. White and his wife Andrea of South Carolina and Raymond S. White and his wife Linda of Plymouth; one daughter, Johannah K. Synott of Plymouth; eight grandchildren, Stephanie White and her husband Jason, Rochelle Duckweiller and her husband Justin, Robert Maxwell and his wife Karen, Pamela Kaplan, David White and his wife Wioletta, Rae- Anne White, Lauren White and Matthew White and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, John Loren White and a sister, Harriett (Crawford) Middleton. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 8 at the Plymouth Congregational Church at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private.
