Waterbury - Mr. William E. Nicholson, Jr, 78, died on Monday evening, March 7, at the Waterbury Hospital.
Mr. Nicholson was born July 28, 1937 in Waterbury, son of the late William E. and Mary (Reynolds) Nicholson, Sr. Raised in Waterbury he had attended local schools and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. He had served as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for over twenty five years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Sheridan Council of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Mens Club and communicant of St. Leo the Great Church. He enjoyed tennis and cheering for the New York Yankees and the UConn Huskies.
He is survived by two sons, Edward Nicholson and his wife Kathleen of Thomaston and Kevin Nicholson of VA; one brother, John Nicholson of SC; two sisters, Kay Wasko and her husband Jim of Terryville and Nancy Nicholson of Avon; one grandson, Ethan Nicholson of Thomaston; his former wife, Donna Nicholson of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Friends may call at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston on Friday morning, March 11, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the William Nicholson Memorial Scholarship Fund C/O Thomaston Savings Bank 160 Litchfield Rd. Harwinton, CT 06791 to benefit his only Grandson Ethan.
