Obituary

Thomaston- Mr. William E. OConnor, 68, of Humiston Circle, died Thursday, May 15 at the Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa (Caron) OConnor. Mr. OConnor was born October 29, 1939 in Torrington son of the late William and Catherine (Erwin) OConnor. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in Torrington. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He was the owner and operator of the former OConnors Floor Covering in Thomaston and then went to work for the Congoleum Corp. as a district manager from were he retired. He was currently serving as a Fire Commissioner and had been a member of the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years and was a communicant of St. Thomas Church. He was a member of the Stag Club, had coached Little League Baseball, enjoyed fishing and boating at his summer home in Griswold and was a avid Red Sox fan In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, William OConnor and his wife Lisa of Thomaston and Joseph Gomes and his wife Judy of Leesburg, FL; three daughters, Patricia Gomes Kirschbaum of Terryville, Donna Valenti and her husband Sebastian of Thomaston and Diane Pelkey and her husband Robert of Thomaston; one sister, Kathleen Lawson and her husband Fred of New Hartford; 5 grandchildren, Dawn, Jessica, Emily, William and Meghan and 4 great grandchildren, Jordan, Colin, Seth and Alana. He was predeceased by a grandson, John LeBlanc. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19 at 9:15 A.M. from the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. to St. Thomas Church for mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
