Thomaston – Mrs. Anne (Holzer) Pelkey, 63, passed away on Thursday, February 6, at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of Albian J. “Al” Pelkey.
Anne was born October 19, 1956 in Waterbury, daughter of the late George and Mary (Blacker) Holzer. Raised in Naugatuck, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, class of 1974. She received her Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Connecticut and her Masters from Southern Connecticut State University. Anne began her teaching career at Prospect Street School and retired from Maple Hill Elementary School in 2018 after a 39-year career in the Naugatuck School System. She enjoyed spending her summers at her beloved cottage on Highland Lake and in her younger years played the cello in Wallingford Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by her daughter, Sarah E. Trafka and her husband Bubba of Thomaston; her son, Robert A. Pelkey of Waterbury; one sister, Paula Allaben of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Hunter and Cheyenne and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Peter Holzer, predeceased her.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 11, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons funeral Home 46 High St. in Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in the spring.
