Torrington – Mr. Anthony James “Babe” Licata, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie (LaRocca) Licata.
Anthony was born May 24, 1931 in North East, PA, son of the late Angelo and Mary (Pelican) Licata. He attended North East High School where he earned All-State honors in Baseball and won honors playing basketball. After graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force where he was a radar instructor to pilots at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After his discharge he returned to North East and attended Gannon College where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Math. His first job was at Erie Resistor in Erie, PA. He continued his career in electrical manufacturing until eventually owning his own business in Waterbury, CT, he retired in 2013. He will be remembered as an avid golfer and was very active in the churches where he resided.
In addition to his wife, Anthony is survived by his children, Annette Licata and her fiancé Joseph Clark, Charles Licata, Tony Licata and his wife Christine and Maggie Miller and her husband Ray; his sister, Angie Human; his granddaughter, Danielle Licata and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank Licata, his brother-in-law, Joseph LaRocca, his niece, Kim (Ferko) Locke and his great-nephew, Frederick Fanning.
