Thomaston – Barbara Lea (Wolinski) LaFreniere, 74, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2019 after battling a long illness. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to Mr. Gilles LaFreniere.
Barbara was born on July 8, 1944 in Waterbury, daughter of the late F. M. Wolinski and Calista Wolinski. Barbara was a graduate of St. Francis Nursing School and worked for over 47 years as a Registered Nurse at Waterbury Hospital. She loved tending to her flower gardens and was an avid reader. She will always be remembered for her love of caring for others and she cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandson, Maxximus.
Besides her husband Gilles of Thomason, Barbara is survived by her daughter, Erica Gregorio and her husband Michael, of Boston, MA.; her grandson, Maxximus Gregorio; her brother Michael Wolinski and his wife Judy of Bothell, Washington; three sisters, Kathy Lazarus and her husband Dr. Michael of Stamford, Calista Knorr and her husband Jeffrey of Southbury; and Michelle DeCarlo and her husband Patrick of Naugatuck; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Wolinski of Boston, MA.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 15, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church (St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish) 1 East Main St., Thomaston. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
