Thomaston – Mr. Daniel Alessio, 95, passed away on Thursday morning, December 17, at Apple Rehabilitation in Watertown. He was the husband of the late Julianna (Crocetto) Alessio.
Daniel was born November 9, 1925 in Waterbury, son of the late Patsy and Nancy (DiLeo) Alessio. Raised in Waterbury, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Leavenworth High School, class of 1943. He had served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps and later attended the University of Connecticut. He was a member of the American Legion, Burton-Bradley Post 155 in Woodbury.
He is survived by children, Joanie Eykelhoff and her husband Richard of Thomaston, Janet Alessio of Thomaston and James Alessio of Torrington; grandchildren, Justin Eykelhoff and his wife Catie, Andrew Eykelhoff and his wife Gail, Natalie Gelada and her husband Francis and Thomas Carroll; two great-grandchildren, Marshall and Dean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his brother, Ralph Alessio and his sister, Vita Pisciotti.
A Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas Church and burial of cremains in Hillside cemetery, with full military honors, will be held in the spring.
