Thomaston – Daniel J. Kelly, 77, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, after a battle with cancer.

Dan was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and came to New York at age 21. Dan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964-1966. He retired from the Taft School in Watertown, where he was the baker. Dan made many friends at Taft and he loved his job.

Dan is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda; his step-daughter, Diane DaSilva, of Sandy Hook, and her husband, Dan; his granddaughter, Emma and his grandson, Alex; four granddaughters of Missouri, Cheyenne, Crystal, Paige, and Autumn. Dan is also survived by his brother, John Kelly; his sister-in-law, Joyce Kelly; brother, Patrick, of Ireland; sisters, Bridget and Mary, of England, Joan Stone, and her husband, Bill, of Ireland, and Nora, of Australia; his brother-in-law, George Gereg, of Bethel; and several nieces and nephews, including his nephew, David Byrne, who came from England to see his Uncle Dan while he was sick, along with his Mom, Bridget.

Dan was predeceased by his parents, David and Mary (Hehir) Kelly; his step-daughter, Brenda Johnson, in 2005; and his brother, Denis Kelly, of Ireland.

There will be no calling hours. All friends are welcome to come to the graveside service on Friday, November 17 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
