Thomaston – Mr. Donald I. Norton, 89, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, November 5. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Kenney) Norton.
Don was born August 2, 1930 in Plymouth, son of the late Irving and Frances (Austin) Norton. Raised in Plymouth he had attended local schools and served honorably In the United States Navy from February 2, 1951 until his honorable discharge on February 8, 1955. Don will be remembered lovingly by his countless friends and for his love of Cape Cod.
A resident of Thomaston for nearly 70 years, he and his family were in the car business for many decades and had owned the former Thomaston Motors.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Melissa Marlowe and her husband Vincent Marlowe, Jr and his three great-grandchildren, Anthony, Hannah and Kayden. He also leaves his daughter-in-law Mary and his longtime partner Noreen Roman. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son Kenney and his daughter Mary Ellen.
The family would like to thank Nane, his caregiver, for the excellent care he received the last several months.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 15, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
