Thomaston – Mrs. Dorothy (Thistle) Whittaker, 95, passed away peacefully on December 10, at Beacon Brook Health Center. She was the widow of Stanley Whittaker.
Dorothy was born on March 23, 1926, daughter of the late Douglas and Anna (Dumschott) Thistle. She spent many years volunteering for the American Red Cross, Friends of the Thomaston Public Library and also belonged to a bowling league and line dancing classes.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially going out to eat. She was a snowbird, spending winters with her sister Jayne and brother-in-law John in Florida, often convincing them to watch UConn Huskies basketball.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Cheryl Whittaker and June (Whittaker) Gagnon; grandchildren, Melanie and Stephen Gagnon; great-granddaughter, Nicolette Gagnon; sister, Jayne (John) Marsden and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Lenore Thistle.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 18, at 11:00 A.M> at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial will be private.
