Tribute

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Douglas E. Miller, Sr, 91, entered the gates of heaven at home with his daughter by his side on Monday, July 20. He was the husband of the late Joan (Alling) Miller.

Born in Waterbury to English immigrants Beatrice (Batten) and William J. Miller on October 6, 1928, he was the last surviving Miller, predeceased by seven siblings. He graduated from Bunker Hill Grammar School and Leavenworth High School class of 1948. He married his sweetheart Joan Alling, his wife of 60 years. Together they raised five children. His greatest joy was being Poppy to his 15 gandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Doug will be remembered as the ultimate handy man who could fix anything; had formerly been employed by Hayden Switch, the Bristol Company and finally retired from Tech Systems in Thomaston as head maintenance supervisor. Doug loved the Boston Red Sox and was an avid collector of trains,

He is survived by his children, Darlene Finateri (Joe), Debbie DeMando, Tom DeMando, Sharon Laone (John), Karen Miller and Doug Miller, Jr (Dawn); his grandchildren, Joe Finateri, Jr, Tiffany Finateri Foley (Matt), Michael Finateri, Nicholas Finateri, Christopher Finateri, Tyler DeMando and Tanner DeMando, Ashley Laone Kranich (Ryan), Candace Laone Nearing (Kris), Brandon Laone, Destiny Laone, Cory Miller (Sarah), Cody Miller (Tori), Caitlyn Miller (Dillon) and his great grandchildren, Ben, Luke and Madison Foley, Lily Finateri, Carson, Bentley and Tessa Kranich and Ellie, Charlie and Andrew Miller. He was predeceased by his grandson, Tommy Miller DeMando.
