Gertrude E. Deperry
July 22, 1935 ~ April 7, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old
Thomaston – Gertrude E. Deperry, 82, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, after a short stay at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Mearle Dowain Deperry.
Gertrude was born in Farmington to the late Lorenzo and Rose (Carrochio) Labbadia. She was raised in Farmington and attended local schools. She moved to Bristol, where she lived for 27 years before moving to Thomaston in 1985. She worked for Craftsman Litho, in Waterbury. Gertrude was a member of St. Thomas Church, and Thomaston Senior Citizens, and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Allen R. Rode, Jr., and his wife, Theresa of Thomaston; and Joseph Rode of Westfield, Mass.; her 3 daughters, Brenda A. Rode-Buntin, and her husband, Mark, of Cape Coral, FL; Kathleen Leger, and her husband, Marty, of Terryville; Lori Ann Ciesco, of Terryville; her step-daughter, Joy Guerrette, and her husband, Gary Bristol; 10 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including Tom Marino, and his wife, Betty; and niece Jean and husband Paul Sutton.
Including her husband, Mearle, Gertrude was predeceased by her brothers: Ralph Labbadia, Jimmy Labbadia, Julio Labbadia, Joseph Labbadia and a sister Georgianna Gonway.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, Thomaston. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
