Thomaston – Mr. Harold A. Ellis, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 20. He was the husband of the late Oneita (Gordiner) Ellis.
Harold was born May 27, 1926 in Plymouth, son of the late, Charles and Phoebe (Curtis) Ellis. He served honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He had been employed at Plume and Atwood and operated a lawn service in town for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Clifford French Post 22. He loved being outdoors and spending time with family, dancing, gardening, playing cards and horseshoes; he will be remembered most for his blue eyes, handsome smile and generosity.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Rice of Watertown and Dianna S. Parker and her husband Fred of Wolcott; three sons, Gerald F. Ellis of Thomaston, Charles Ellis of RI and Ronald Ellis of RI; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, James Ricco, Robert Ellis and Charles Ellis.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 26, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Hillside Cemetery.
