Northfield – Jadwiga (Golembiewska) Piotrowski, 79, of Northfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the widow of Mr. Gabriel Piotrowski.
Jadwiga was born on August 2. 1939 in Krzymowloga, Mala, Poland, daughter of the late Ksawery and Marianna (Szlaska) Golembiewski. Jadwiga immigrated in 1965 and lived in Northfield for 49 years. Jadwiga was a talented seamstress, enjoyed gardening and nurturing her property, and often visited Our Lady of Lourds’ Shrine in Litchfield. She was a devote member of St. Thomas Church all those years and found great comfort there. She was a proud grandmother and will be remembered for her love of family. She was an amazing cook who always made pierogi and chrusciki for holidays and then - every chance she could for her grandchildren.
Jadwiga is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth P. Norwood and her husband Michael of Unionville, Mary Anna Piotrowski and Groton, and Halina Wagner and her husband Daniel of Hamden; and four grandchildren, Jack Wagner, Adam Norwood, Anna Wagner, and Christian Norwood.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church (St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish) 1 East Main St. Thomaston. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
