Thomaston – Mrs. Jean Zoe (Sanderson) Powers, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Apple Rehabilitation in Avon. She was the widow of James Powers of Bristol.
Jean was born March 28, 1931, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Clark) Sanderson. Raised in Thomaston she attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School, class of 1949. She spent many years organizing reunions for her high school class, including their 60th reunion in 2009. She had been employed as an Executive Secretary for many years at local businesses, retiring from the Edward Segal Company. She was an avid painter later in life and took great pride in her artwork. She will be remembered for her love of Nantucket, flowers, gardening, teddy bears and most adoringly, her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Mark A. Bailey and his wife Geri of New Hampshire, Robert J. Bailey and his wife Susan of Winsted and John E. Bailey and his wife Georgine of Guilford; three daughters, Kristen Bailey of Unionville, Sally Bailey of Winsted and Heidi Mazerolle of Burlington; one sister, Shirley Innes and her husband Harry of Thomaston; her grandchildren, Robert Noack and his wife Barbie, Stephen Noack, Martial Kepler and his wife Michelle, Shannon (Bailey) Centrella and her husband Shane, Ina Bailey, Sean Bailey, Katelyn Bailey, Tracy Mazerolle, Claire Bailey, Timothy Mazerolle and Conor Bailey ; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband Harold (Chick) Bailey, second husband Charles Clute and her twin sister Joan as well as siblings Robert, Mary, John, Edna, Thomas, Kay, Peggy, and Barbara.
