What a great lady! We were so blessed that she became a very active and important member of the Railroad Museum of New England family in Thomaston. To our passengers and visitors, Joan was the face of the RMNE - the first person they usually see as they arrived at the station and also the last as she would thank them for their visit in the gift shop. Sue and I really enjoyed talking with her - being a history enthusiast I enjoyed her firsthand accounts of life in London during the Darkest Hour for the UK during the bombings in World War 2 - this gave me more appreciation for the suffering that so many felt during that time in history. I thought of her as I watched the recent movie "Darkest Hour" which described that time in her life.
We will always remember that pleasant time in the Railroad Museum's own history when Joan was in charge of the station. To the Jackson family, thank you so much for sharing her with us!
