Thomaston – Joseph Rode, 62, of Thomaston, passed away on January 11, 2022.
Joseph was born on June 18, 1959, son of Allen R. Rode Sr., and Gertrude (Labbadia) Deperry. At 17 he decided to join the US Army, where he worked as heavy construction equipment operator. This led him to completing the US Army Airborne Course where he receive his parachutist badge, also known as "Jump Wings. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Joseph turned to his love of cars. He became extremely handy and could often be found “turning a wrench.” Joseph also took joy of the simple pleasures the outdoors has to offer, such as the smell of freshly cut grass as he mowed the lawn or sitting on a stump fishing for bass.
Joseph is survived by his daughters, Heather Reed and her husband Anthony of Enid Ok, Amber McCoy and her husband Scott of Willington CT; Joseph was a very proud grandpa to Grand daughters Aimsley and Harper McCoy; also by his siblings, Brenda Buntin and her husband Mark of Lake City SC, Allen Rode and his wife Theresa of Thomaston CT, Kathy Leger and her husband Marty of Terryville CT,; and Lori Ciesco of Terryville CT; and by his cousins Tom and Betty Marino of unionville CT, and Jean and Paul Sutton of Suffield CT. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Calling hours are Sunday, January 16 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Burial is private.
