Thomaston – Mrs. Lois (Newsome) Ryan, 83, entered into the eternal kingdom of God on December 10, 2017 peacefully at Vitas in St Mary's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lois was the spiritual rock of her family and welcomed meeting her beloved Father in Heaven. She was born March 11, 1934 the daughter of the late Doris (Brooks) and Frederick Newsome. Lois married George E Ryan on April 28, 1950 and was predeceased by him.  During their 39 year marriage they raised 6 children.
She is survived by those six children: Cynthia (Ryan) Borowski of Terryville CT, Sharon Ryan, Joyce (Ryan) Lewis and her husband Brian Lewis and Teresa Ryan, all of Thomaston CT, Julia (Ryan) Habas and her husband James Habas of Ogunquit Maine, and George Ryan and his wife Karen (Oliver ) Ryan of Winterville North Carolina. She is also survived by her brother George Newsome and his wife Shirley Newsome of Thomaston. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois will be remembered for her kind and giving heart, love of her family, her unrelenting faith, and her compassion towards others. Lois was everyone's grandmother and she made an impact on so many lives during her 83 years here on earth. She enjoyed walks, talking to people she met in her daily travels, taking long car rides and enjoying natural beauty. Lois kept moving and let nothing keep her down. A determined and fighting spirit she did things her way right up until the day she passed. Lois never lost sight of her faith or in God's love for her. She did not fear passing but felt fulfilled in her long life and all her experiences. Lois will be greatly missed by all who have been touched over the years by her kindness and generosity.
As per Lois's wishes there will be no calling hours or formal funeral services. A private ceremony of remembrance will be held at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Thomaston Social Service Crisis Fund 158 Main St Thomaston CT 06787.
