Thomaston – Mrs. Margaret C. (McCooey) Tingle Ciafardone, 90, passed away on Sunday evening, June 27, at Cook-Willow Convalescent Home in Plymouth. She was the widow of Richard Tingle and Albert Ciafardone.
Margaret was born January 11, 1931 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Pender) McCooey. Raised in Waterbury she attended local schools and was a graduate of Wilby High School. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who maintained several part time jobs over the years, including working in the Thomaston First Selectman’s office. Active in the community she served on the Republican Town Committee, was an active communicant of St. Thomas Church, was an avid skier and a ski instructor at Mohawk Mountain. She grew to love the New York Yankees and loved to dance.
She is survived by one son, Richard Tingle and his wife Yvette of Thomaston; two daughters, Carol Williams and her husband Dan of Winsted and Linda Stevens of Thomaston; her step Daughter, Delphine Knowlton of WY; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one nephew and several nieces. She was predeceased by her five siblings and her grandson, Timothy Stevens.
The family wants to thank the staff of Cook-Willow for the wonderful care given to their mother.
Family and friends are invited to a calling hour on Thursday, July 1, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Thomas Church at 11:00 A.M. Prayers of Committal will take place at the Hillside Cemetery.
