Tribute

Thomaston – Mrs. Margaret Louise (Delameter) Rein, 96, passed away on Thursday, September 12, at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Kenneth E. Rein.

Margaret was born at Waterbury Hospital to the late Guy and Florence (Richmond) Delameter on September 14, 1922. Margaret grew up in Plymouth and attended school in Plymouth and Terryville.

Following her marriage to the late Kenneth E. Rein on April 27, 1946, they moved to Thomaston where they raised two children, Cynthia and Ken. Margaret had been employed at Blake and Johnson, Seth Thomas, Risdon and Tech Systems.

Margaret was a member of St. Peter’s – Trinity Church and a longtime member of the church Women’s Guild. She also was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Margaret loved to bowl and enjoyed canning and freezing vegetables from the family garden on their farm. She was a wonderful cook and her family and friends were everything to her.

Margaret is survived by one son, Kenneth P. Rein and his wife Ann of Litchfield; one daughter, Cynthia L. Johnston and her husband Dean of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Kenneth E. Rein and his wife Lisa of Watertown, Gregory B. Rein and his companion Mikala Esty of Litchfield, Dean Johnston and his wife Krystin of Litchfield and David Johnston and his wife Ange of Harwinton; two great-grandsons, Cory and Eric Johnston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 70 years, Margaret is predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Mara and Wanda Callahan.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s – Trinity Church 160 Main St. Thomaston. Committal prayers will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
