Margaret A Taylor, 70 years young, of Thomaston, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017.
Margaret was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Koval) Taylor and the sister of the late John Taylor, all of Thomaston. She leaves her aunt, Dorothy (Koval) Horan, of Prospect, her uncle, Raymond Misura, of Watertown, and many loving cousins, former colleagues, students and friends.
Margaret grew up in Thomaston and went on to attend college with the goal of teaching English. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut in 1969 and a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 1971. She taught English to students in grades 9 and 11 at Bristol Eastern High School for 30 years. During the course of her teaching career, Margaret was the recipient of the Board of Education Staff Award in 1985. She was a nominee for Bristol Teacher of the Year in 1992 and was listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers in 1994.
Margaret retired from teaching in June of 2002 and proceeded to pursue many of her interests: taking day trips, dining out, reading, performing volunteer work tutoring English, teaching remedial reading to elementary school students and avidly following her beloved UConn Huskies basketball teams.
