Thomaston - Marion Krayeski Darasz passed away at the age of 91 on Friday, January 26, 2018 after a long illness.

She was born September 1, 1926 to Frances and Woiech Krayeski in Thomaston, Connecticut. Marion was married to her Thomaston High School sweetheart, Joseph Peter Darasz, for 61 years before his passing in 2010. Marion and Joe lived their whole lives together in Thomaston raising two daughters. She is survived by her daughters Noreen Cerruto and her husband Paul of New Hartford, CT and Margaret Hadzima and her husband Joseph of Wellesley, MA. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ann Cerruto of Torrington, CT, Elizabeth Hadzima Perkins of Berkeley, CA, and Jeffrey Hadzima of New York City and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Genia Dulina, Nellie DiNunzio, and Agnes Mueller.

After graduating from Thomaston High School in 1943, Marion worked at Seth Thomas, the Grove Street School lunch program, and ultimately retired from various office positions at Scovill Manufacturing. Over the years, she was active in the events of St. Thomas parish in Thomaston participating in the choir, teaching in the Sunday School, and sewing altar coverings and garments for the priests. She loved to read, cook, sew, knit, and participate in a variety of crafts. Most importantly, Marion left her mark on this world as a creative, witty, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main St. Thomaston. Family and friends may call at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St. from 9:00 A.M. until the time to leave for church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department, 245 South Main Street, Thomaston, CT 06787.
