Thomaston – Mark Richards, 65, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.
Mark was born October 26, 1956 in Torrington, son of the late Ronald S. and Elizabeth J. (Frost) Richards, Sr. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School, class of 1975. Mark was the co-owner of Deck’s Fix It Shop in Winsted for 25 years. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, woodworking, clock making, repair and restoration and coin collecting.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Mary Richards of Thomaston, Mark Hicks-Richards and his husband George Hicks-Richards of Amherst, MA and Philip Myron Richards and his wife Kaitlin Richards of Laramie, WY; his step-son Christopher Ayers of Thomaston; four brothers, Ronald Richards, Jr of Rome, NY, Daniel Richards of Norwich, NY, David Richards of Naugatuck and Robert Richards of GA; two grandchildren, Dominic Raymond Richards and his husband Andres Caceres of Torrington and Melanie Elizabeth Richards of Thomaston; many nieces, nephews, cousins and four aunts. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Paul Richards and his brother, Arthur Richards, Sr.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 1, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 837 Charles St. Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Thomaston. At the request of the family masks are required at the funeral home and the church.
