Harwinton – Mrs. Martha (Haddon) Williams, 87, passed away on Wednesday morning, November 7, at Valerie Manor in Torrington. She was the widow of Robert L. Williams, Sr.
Martha was born in Plymouth on June 22, 1931, daughter of the late Percy and Eva (Lord) Haddon who had immigrated to Thomaston form Deer Island, New Brunswick, Canada in the 1920’s. Raised in Thomaston she had attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School, class of 1949. She had been employed as a secretary in the pharmacy of Waterbury Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1995. Martha was proud to have been the first female deacon of the former Evangel Assembly of God Church in Watertown where she had been an active member.
She is survived by two sons, Robert L. Williams, Jr and his wife Carol of Bayfield, CO and Paul J. Williams and his wife Nina of Aroma Park, IL; four daughters, Lori O’Donnell and her husband Steve of Downingtown, PA, Doreen Torres and her husband Anthony of Torrington, Lynne Sears and her husband Roger of Harwinton and Tammy Kennedy and her husband Rob of Torrington; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Ben, Forrest, Aleesha, Ireland, Tabitha, Connor, Brook and Chloe; two great-grandchildren, Abel and Loxly and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Cameron, James Haddon, Percy G. Haddon and Paul Haddon.
A private graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery.
