Thomaston – Mary N. Lonergan, 68, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2020 at Brandywine Living in Litchfield.
Mary was born on July 28, 1952, daughter of the late William Lonergan and the late Marion Lonergan. Mary was a resident of Thomaston, CT for the majority of her life. Mary received her Master’s degree from Boston College and worked as an itinerant teacher of blind children for The Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB). She was an active member of several service and study groups at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston. She enjoyed many styles of music, movies, plays, books as well as square dancing, visiting historical sites including Ireland, and attending activities of the Red Hat Society. Mary’s favorite Thomaston activities were the Fireman’s carnival and parades and Light Up The Town.
Mary is survived by her cousins, April Carrara and her son John Carrara of Watertown, Terry Cosgrove and her husband Dan and their children, Daniel Jr, Richard, and Alexandria of Thomaston, Annastacia and Nicholas Burns, and Mary Rickevicius and her family. As well as Marguerite Lonergan and William Lonergan of California and other cousins throughout the country. Mary is also pre-deceased by several Aunts, Uncles, cousins and Godchildren especially Christine Burns. Mary had many friends throughout her life which she stayed in touch as much as she could.
Visitation is Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St Thomas Church (St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish) 1 E. Main St. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
