Thomaston – Mrs. MaryLee (Alter) Hershey, 82, passed away on Saturday evening, March 6, at her home. She was the widow of Albert Hershey. They were married for 51 years.

MaryLee was born March 30, 1938 in Bloomfield, New Jersey, daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Elizabeth (Durst) Alter. For over twenty years she was the organist and choir director at the Warren Congregational Church. She will be remembered for her love of music which is now her legacy. She very much enjoyed the outdoors and skiing and had been a ski instructor at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area in Cornwall for many years.

She is survived by two sons, David Hershey (Kirsten Sundeen-Hershey) of Monrovia, MD and Curtis Hershey of Mahopac, NY; two daughters, Elizabeth Howe (James Howe) of Erie, PA and Christine Hershey of Alexandria, VA; one brother, David Alter of VT; one sister, Sydney Murphy of VT and two married grandchildren, Kia Howell (Seth Howell) and Colby Howe (Becca Reichbaum-Howe), and one great grandson, Sawyer Reichbaum-Howe. 

All are invited to attend a prayer and remembrance service on Saturday, March 13 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston, CT. Visitation hours begin at 12:00, for friends to pay respects to the family before the service begins. Face masks are required. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in MaryLee’s name to the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra 160 Robbins Street Waterbury, CT 06708.
