Thomaston – Matthew R. Lafontaine, 42, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, August 26.
Matthew was born January 10, 1975 in Waterbury, son of Leo R. and Helena R.
(Rotella) Lafontaine of Thomaston. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School class of 1994. He then attended
Northwest Community College before enlisting in the United States Army where
he served honorably for four years. Upon his release from active duty he enrolled in Central Connecticut State University and graduated with a BA degree.
Matt has been employed at Bozzuto’s, Inc. in Cheshire for over 15 years. He will
be remembered for his infectious smile and his ability to light up the room. Matt
was always willing to help anyone in need. He was an avid sports fan, devoted to
the New York Yankees, Miami Dolphins and UConn basketball.
In addition to his parents he is survived by two brothers, Brian L. Lafontaine and
Jason R. Lafontaine both of Thomaston and many aunts, uncles, cousins and
friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 30, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, August 31, at 1100 A.M. at the Shrine of St. Anne 515 South Main St. in Waterbury. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Thomaston.
