Nicholas J. Perniciaro
December 22, 1925 ~ September 29, 2019 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Thomaston – Nicholas J. Perniciaro, Jr., 93, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019. He was the husband of Marlene (Monahan) Perniciaro, for 66 years.
Nick was born in Kings Park, LI, NY on December 22, 1925, son of Nicholas J. Perniciaro, Sr. and Anna (Basso) Perniciaro. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Wake Island. Nick was the sole proprietor of Monahan’s Memorial Works in Thomaston. He was a pack leader for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and was an umpire and coach for the Little League in E. Northport, NY. Nick was a member of the American Legion, Donald C. Munro Post 944 in Kings Park, NY for 70 years; and was a past member of the Rotary and the Italian American Club.
Including his beloved wife, Marlene, Nick is survived by his sons, Nicholas J. Perniciaro, III; and Jeffery W. Perniciaro; his daughter, Deborah L. Montgomery; his sister, Patricia Hebron; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Nick was predeceased by his siblings, Rose Spong; Eleanor Ambrosio; Mary Hegedus; Lucille Ciago; Peter Perniciaro; and Alvin Perniciaro.
Funeral services will be held on Friday with a calling hour from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston, to St. Thomas Church for a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery with Military Honors.
