Thomaston – Mr. Richard Adrian Bellemare, 78, passed away on Monday, July 5, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Kathleen A. (LaMay) Bellemare.

Richard was born October 18, 1942 in Manchester, NH, son of the late William Roger and Marcelle (Plaisance) Bellemare. Raised in Oakville, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1960. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served for four years before his honorable discharge.

His career was in the grocery business and he retired from DiLeo Bros as the warehouse manager in 2005. His love for people brought him to LaBonnes Market in Watertown where he worked part-time until 2015. Rich loved sports and was a diehard Red Sox and Giants fan. He coached Thomaston Little League Baseball and was active in Thomaston Recreation Basketball where he coached and officiated. The one volunteer committee he loved the most was Light Up The Town where he was Santa Claus for over 10 years. Rich loved his grandchildren, spending summers in the Outer Banks, playing golf with his best friend, John Obar and Friday nights at The Village Restaurant in Litchfield.

In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by two sons, Scott Richard Bellemare and his wife Brie of Watertown and Trevor Ryan Bellemare and his longtime girlfriend Ashley Corsetti of Thomaston; two daughters, Saige Kuirke and her husband Kenneth of Watertown and Tara Alciati and her husband Mike of Colebrook; one sister, Lorrain Davis and her husband Robert of Cheshire; his grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Robert and Raymond Bellemare, predeceased him.

Calling hours are Saturday, July 10, from 9:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. A prayer service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Military honors will follow. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be in Richard’s name to the Thomaston Park and Recreation Dept. 158 Main St. Thomaston, CT 06787 Attention: Marty Egan for future athletic events.
