Thomaston – Robert L.O’Brien Sr., 90, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2020. He was the loving husband of 64 years of Emilia (Carbone) O’Brien.
“Bob” was born on November 11, 1929 in Waterbury, son of the late John and Dorothy O’Brien. He worked for over 40 years as a baker at the Reymond Baking Company. He proudly served in the Army of the Korean War. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Thomaston. Bob enjoyed sports and travel and as an avid walker, folks around town knew him and always gave him a big wave. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them, especially the holidays and was thrilled to meet his newest great granddaughter Isla.
Besides his wife Emilia, Bob is survived by his sons Robert O’Brien Jr. of Texas, Mark O’Brien and his wife Carol of Thomaston, five grandchildren, Blake, Kendal, Dylan, Katie, and Colin, and 3 great grandchildren; his brother Lawrence O’Brien Sr., and two sisters, Loretta Jorgenson, and Karen Ljongquist, and many nieces & nephews. A special thanks to the staff at Cook Willow & to his niece Rochelle Foster for her loving care of her “Uncle Bobby”.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston, 135 Main St. Burial will be held privately.
