Thomaston - Roger Carl Gangloff, aged 87 passed November 9th, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. He died peacefully at home under the care of family and friends.

He was born in Rockville Connecticut on April 22, 1932. He was the only child of Carl and Elizabeth Sullivan Gangloff.

Roger was a Korean War Combat Veteran serving the 35th Infantry Division from 1952 to 1954 in a Heavy Mortar unit. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He received many medals for his service. He went on to post war employment at the Hallden Machine Company. He also ran Roger’s Lawnmower Repair for many years. He retired in 1992 from Hallden Machine as Shop Manager. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a lifetime member of the Thomaston Fish and Game Club. As enumerated in his life’s photo collection, he particularly enjoyed fishing with family and friends.

Married in 1958 Roger was predeceased by his wife Dale Ferry Gangloff. He is survived by their six children, Roy and Collette Gangloff of Brattleboro VT, Carl Gangloff of Torrington CT, Katherine Roman of Thomaston CT, Cheryl and Craig Hubble of Burlington CT, Patricia and Keith Rogozinski of New Hartford, Renee and Rob Welsh of Torrington CT. He had 13 Grandchildren 3 Great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church (St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish) 1 East Main St., Thomaston. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
