Terryville - William H. Smith, 84, was born on January 30th 1933 in Chattanooga TN., the son of the late Ethel and William H. Smith. From his family of origin he is survived by his sister Brenda; and niece Kimberly. He graduated from Murray State University and The Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary with Bachelor's Degrees and later graduated from Yale Divinity School with a Master's degree in Sacred Theology. He served as a psychotherapist in private practice in Thomaston CT for over 30 years. He also pastored at Eagle Rock Congregational Church of Thomaston and First Baptist Church of Waterbury. He was a devoted husband to Sue for 58 years and a caring father to sons Stephen and David. Throughout his life he helped and counseled many people. Regarding his own passing he commented, "I prefer to be 'absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”

A funeral service celebrating the life of William will be held on Monday May 22nd at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's-Trinity Church, 160 Main Street Thomaston with the Reverend Mark H. Byers officiating. A reception will follow.
