Wolcott – Edward Corbet Higgins, 92, of Wolcott, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.  He was the loving husband of the late Margaret (Vestali) Higgins.
 
Edward was born on September 18, 1924 in Waterbury, son of the late Corbet and Lillian (Gray) Higgins. He graduated from Thomaston High School and was employed at Lombard Brothers Inc. in Waterbury for more than 35 years before retiring in 1985. Edward was a kind man with a great sense of humor.  He loved spending time outside in his backyard, eating out at his favorite restaurant and enjoying a glass of wine.   He also loved music, especially Big Band music.  Edward’s biggest joy in life was spending time with his loving family.
 
Edward is survived by his five children, Kathy Turzo and her husband Michael of Georgia; Jane Higgins and her partner Jacklyn Muse of Maine; Nancy Salerno of Waterbury; Sally Higgins of Woodbury; and James C. Higgins of Wolcott.  He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Christopher Turzo; Kimberly Hennelly; and Betsy Schafer; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Olson and Margaret Barr, and a son-in-law, Jack Salerno.
 
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 12 Noon at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A funeral service will be held at noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery of Thomaston.
