Thomaston – Robert W. White, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Betty (Axelby) White, to whom he was married for 56 years.

Bob was born on August 7, 1936, in Thomaston, to the late Wesley and Edna (Williams) White.

A lifelong resident of Thomaston, Bob was actively involved in the community. He served as a volunteer for 20 years in the Thomaston Fire Department and was a member of the Thomaston Lions Club, the Thomaston Senior Center and the First Congregational Church of Thomaston.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was happiest when surrounded by his large and loving family.

Including his wife, Betty, Bob is survived by his son, Bob White, Jr., and his wife Barb, and their children, Melissa, Amy, and Sarah, of Oakville; his daughter, Cheryl Gordon, and her husband, Doug, and their children, Matthew, Andrew, and Amanda, of Oakville; his daughter, Donna Taylor, and her husband, Raymond, and their children, Jason, Jessica, and Justin, of Thomaston; his sister, Judy Radke, and her companion, Joe Morelli, of Wolcott; his great-grandson, Nathaniel Gordon; his nieces and nephews; extended family; and adored dog, Mandy.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 2, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 3, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 135 Main Street, Thomaston. Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thomaston Fire Department or the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center.
